Syracuse, NY: The Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, wrapped up a 3-week tech, rehearsal, and launch of their National Tour at Syracuse’s Landmark Theatre on September 18.

Over 6,500 patrons attended the show over the weekend and approximately 50% of the tickets were sold outside of Onondaga County. “That’s over 3,000 people visiting the City of Syracuse in one weekend that otherwise might not have if not for this NYS Theatre Tax Credit. 3,000 people getting dinner before the show and drinks after, purchasing gasoline and staying in hotels,” said Landmark Theatre’s General Manager Mike Intaglietta.

Mr. Intaglietta went on to say “It was a great experience hosting the cast and crew of Jersey Boys here at the Landmark. They were wonderful guests who truly seemed to appreciate spending so much time in downtown Syracuse with restaurants and shopping and nightlife. The Landmark looks forward to hosting any other tech-in opportunities that these tax credits help to make available to us. Steady rent and popular shows on the calendar go a long way to making operating a theatre like ours sustainable.”

Joel McKissick, President of I.A.T.S.E Local 9 stated “Having the Jersey Boys technical rehearsals and shows at the Landmark Theatre was a tremendous opportunity for IATSE Local 9 in Syracuse. It provided steady work for 25 local theatre professionals for three weeks that otherwise wouldn’t have been available. In a small entertainment market like Syracuse, this was a welcome addition to our schedule that positively affects the lives of our workers and their families. On behalf of our membership, I would like to thank Famous Artists/NAC Entertainment and the Landmark Theatre for working so hard to make this happen.”

“The combination of the show teching at the Landmark Theatre and the patrons attending provided an economic impact of over $2,000,000,” said Albert Nocciolino, President/Owner of Famous Artists, the presenter of JERSEY BOYS in Syracuse. “The cast and crew of JERSEY BOYS filled over 700 room nights at local hotels. They visited local tourist attractions, spent their time in Syracuse at area restaurants and retailers. In addition, the show employed between 25 and 65 local union workers daily at the Landmark Theatre throughout the three weeks. Because of Theatre patrons, paid parking areas surrounding the Theatre were full not to mention local area restaurants were filled with patrons before and after each show. Out of town ticket buyers stayed in hotels and toured the city, and local retailers were also impacted by theatergoers.”

Famous Artists is delighted to have had such a successful engagement of JERSEY BOYS and looks forward to the upcoming shows of ONCE, RENT, RIVERDANCE, AND MAMMA MIA! at the Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater, and WICKED, BEAUTIFUL, and MOTOWN at the Landmark Theatre, as part of their 2016-2017 Famous Artists Broadway Theater Series.
