Broadway never felt so close.

Season Ticket Holder Numbers Increase

Season Ticket holder numbers increase by over 25% for the
2017 - 2018 M&T Bank Broadway Season

(ROCHESTER, NY) –The RBTL’s Auditorium Theatre is a hub of activity these days, with local and touring
crews preparing for the launch of the National Tour SCHOOL OF ROCK the musical. While this new show
grows on stage, the number of M&T Bank Broadway season ticket subscribers continues to grow as well.
The current number is more than 25% higher than last season’s total count, and continues to climb.

Subscription sales in Rochester are following the national trend of growth in the Broadway touring
industry. Citing the presence of brand new shows in the current season line up, (SCHOOL OF ROCK,
FUN HOME, A CHRISTMAS STORY, ON YOUR FEET, AND AN AMERICAN IN PARIS) combined with the
return of what now is regarded as a classic (RENT), and a weeklong special (Disney’s THE LITTLE
MERMAID), “Rochester subscriber numbers are stronger than they have been since 2008,” says
presenting partner and producer Albert Nocciolino, “Audiences want new shows, and when we are able
to bring them to the Rochester stage close to their Broadway run, that allows the touring markets to
capitalize on the success and notoriety the shows receive while on Broadway. Additionally, being able to
announce our 2018-2019 engagement of Hamilton has certainly helped us as well.”

SCHOOL OF ROCK is the second touring Broadway show that has launched in Rochester, following last
season’s launch of THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME.

With SCHOOL OF ROCK as the 2017-2018 M&T Bank Broadway season opener, Rochester is able to take
advantage of the New York Tax Incentive program again, which offers a 25% tax credit to producers who
tech their show in the state. Nocciolino, a six- time Tony Award winning producer and presenter,
credited with bringing 3000+ engagements to Rochester over the past 33 years of partnership with
RBTL, played a leading role in getting the program established for New York State. He, along with other
industry leaders, lobbied for legislation which allowed for the program to move forward in 2015.
Nocciolino credits tour launches, in part, as being responsible for the increased subscription numbers.
“Having the ability to launch a tour brings a certain amount of prestige to a market. We certainly feel
that our subscribers recognize that, and play a vital role in spreading the enthusiasm for a show; they
want to be part of that excitement. This is an exciting time for Rochester and for RBTL. We are so thrilled
that so many people are joining us this season and we hope to continue this trend into the future.”

The following shows of the 2017-2018 M&T Bank Broadway Season are Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID,
FUN HOME, A CHRISTMAS STORY The Musical, ON YOUR FEET! , AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, and RENT.
